Device Roundup: Nokia and Motorola Announce New Phones

Yesterday was a big day for smartphones! Nokia unveiled the new Lumia 920 and Motorola introduced new DROID RZRs, sweetening the device market. Here’s the breakdown of the new features of these devices:

Lumia 920

  • Runs Windows Phone 8
  • Wireless Charging (No cords required — just place it on a charging pad.)
  • Rear 8.7 MP camera with 1080p HD video recording (Also includes advanced features to make your snaps brighter and crisper.)
  • 4.5-in HD+ touch screen ( What is HD+, you ask? Think higher resolution, faster refresh rate. So, your content will still be crisp even as you scroll. Also, this new screen should even let your gloved fingers interact with it.)
  • Nokia City Lens augmented reality app

What we think: We’re curious to check out much the much buzzed-about Windows 8 OS, for sure. We like the idea of wireless charging, as well as keeping our fingers warm while we check email. Lots of potential for smartphone photographers.

  • Improved battery life
  • 85% more color saturation than iPhone 4S
  • Dual core processor (Comes with Google Chrome browser)
  • MicroSD expansion slot (For an extra helping of storage, if you need it.)
  • Rear 8 MP camera
What we think: Not as many new bells and whistles as the Lumia 920. Good battery life is huge for us, so that’s a win. We’d love to check out the improved color saturation for what should prove to be a beautiful screen and wish more phones had a MicroSD slot.
