New Wi-Finder App for iOS Can Help Users Save Money!

Nearly 50% of mobile users have no idea how much data they use each month, just as most cell providers have eliminated unlimited data plans – so we figured you could use an easy way to understand how much mobile data you’re using, and how much you could save if you used Wi-Fi instead.

If you spend a fair amount of time watching videos (Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, anyone?) or streaming music (Spotify, Pandora?) on your phone, or upload lots of photos and videos (Instagram, Facebook?), chances are that you push your cellular data package to the limit. But how close are you to that limit?

Our newest update to the iOS Wi-Finder app includes a cellular data usage tracker that helps you figure out how much data you use over both cellular and Wi-Fi during a month, and calculates what your savings is for using Wi-Fi instead of cellular based on information you enter about your monthly cellular data allotment and cost of going over that allotment. It makes it easy to see how much data you’ve used in your current billing cycle to figure out whether you could save money by using more Wi-Fi. And saving money is rad.

Of course the app still makes it easy to log in to more than 500,000 hotspots around the world. And it still includes a free VPN for Boingo members to make sure their public hotspot connections are secure.

If you haven’t already accepted the update from the iTunes App Store, dude, what are you waiting for? If you don’t already have it on your iPhone or 3G/4G iPad and want to see what all the fuss is about, download it now.
