Boingo is focused on making Wi-Fi connectivity for handsets as easy as turning on your portable Wi-Fi device. Every user should be able to benefit from the Boingo Embedded Wi-Fi Toolkit’s robust auto-authentication and profile management capabilities. To achieve the wide adoption of the toolkit across the market, Boingo employs a dual-licensing model for its device code as illustrated below.

Without question, Boingo wants this software architecture to become a de-facto standard in the market. During the development of the Boingo Embedded architecture, Boingo consulted a number of respected individuals and companies regarding licensing terms. The result of this investigation is a two-track licensing strategy that should address the diverse requirements of developers throughout the Wi-Fi ecosystem.
