Boingo will exclusively manage the neutral host DAS networks at both venues, from design to deployment, multi-carrier access to ongoing management. The DAS networks will provide enhanced cellular capacity at both sports venues, allowing fans to upload videos and photos of their event experiences in real time. Boingo’s neutral host approach to DAS networks allow for multiple carriers to access the network on behalf of their customers, ensuring that more fans are automatically connected to the state-of-the-art cellular network. Boingo will also manage any future deployments of cellular small cells at the arenas. Each facility independently chose Boingo Wireless to provide cellular services, and each venue will be managed individually.
“Our new cellular networks in Spokane will feature the latest technology, and will be built for scale and flexibility. Both arena networks will be able to handle data traffic from sell-out crowds,” said Nick Hulse, president of Boingo Wireless. “We are excited to add these premier Pacific Northwest entertainment arenas to our growing DAS network portfolio, and to provide great connectivity to Spokane college students, parents, families and fans.”
“The McCarthey Athletic Center has been host to full capacity crowds since we opened a decade ago. Today our fans and faculty are increasingly looking to stay connected during games and events, and we are working to offer them the most state-of-the-art technology across our campus facilities,” said Robert Kavon, Assistant Athletic Director – Facilities of Gonzaga University. “Boingo’s new agreement for network services at McCarthey will ensure that Bulldogs fans are connected no matter where they catch the game.”
“The Spokane Public Facilities District prides itself on offering the most advanced amenities for events, building partners and fans utilizing our venues. We’re looking forward to having the Boingo DAS network at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena further enhance an already stellar in-venue event experience,” said Matt Gibson, CFE, General Manager.
