Director of Digital Ad Sales

Boingo Wireless is seeking TWO entrepreneurial Director, Digital Ad Sales (Los Angeles & Toronto), responsible for maximizing revenue generation on our Digital Advertising Network and assisting with overall ad sales strategy within the organization.

Director, WLAN Field Service Engineering

As a Director of WLAN Field Service Engineering you will test, certify, repair and maintain Boingo’s International Carrier Class Wi-Fi networks. This key position will be wholly responsible for assuring performance levels, customer experience and network uptime meets/exceeds service plan definitions across Boingo’s managed and owned Wi-Fi networks. In addition to building/leading the Field Engineering Team and on-site technical services contractors, this Director level position must be hands on and proficient in all technical aspects of Wired/Wireless network diagnostics, troubleshooting, operation and optimization.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, Manage and Lead the WLAN Field Service Engineering group to meet quarterly network performance and uptime goals/objectives.
  • Test, certify and accept new venue networks in accordance with defined performance standards.
  • Maintain network performance standards throughout venue lifecycle through active Network Quality Assurance, and coordination with Network Operations Center for alert/event resolution, threshold definitions, trend analysis and proactive maintenance.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair network quality and outage issues up to designated point of demarcation within venue. Escalate issues to Design Engineering as necessary.
  • Maintain on-site vendor contracts/relationships for break/fix support as necessary.
  • Recommend, design and implement procedures/systems/tools/practices to optimize Network Break/Fix and Quality Operations.

Requirements:

  • Cisco certifications with 3-5 years experience with Cisco based WLAN/LAN hardware.
  • Highly skilled in IP / WLAN / Wi-Fi technologies and standards, Cisco IOS/WCS/NCS/LWAPP and ArubaOS/Airwave.
  • Working knowledge of RF Test/Survey Equipment: Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Frequency Counters, Power Meters, etc.
  • 1-2 years experience with at least one access controller platform: Mikrotik RouterOS Hotspot, Colubris, Nomadix, Cisco ISG etc.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office, MS Visio, Ekahau Site Survey Pro.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to sort and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment required.
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent demonstrative training/experience.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year background check to be issued a security badge for access to Airport equipment rooms, which are typically installed in non-public areas within the facility.

  • Internet service provider protocols such as Radius, PPP, PPPoE, IPSec are a plus.

Network Management Systems Engineer

As a Network Management Systems Engineer, you will manage, develop and maintain a comprehensive suite of network monitoring and management tools. This key position will expand Boingo’s ability to assure revenue and maintain service levels through the prompt detection/escalation of outage events, performance degradations and systematic trend analysis across core network sales/provisioning systems, partner networks and Boingo’s managed and owned Wi-Fi networks. This is a highly technical position that will own all aspects of the NMS. The right candidate can also manage/transform business and operational requirements from executive management and NOC staff into functional and efficient technical solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage/maintain Boingo’s existing IBM Tivoli NMS. Install service packs, configure Robotic Response Time agents, add new devices, install upgrades/service packs and tune for optimal performance/health of the NNMS.
  • Manage Cisco Prime Network Control System to ensure accurate/timely tracking of key network and client performance indicators on the WLAN.
  • Develop/produce recurring and ad hoc reporting representing overall system health/availability and SLA adherence as well as spot reports to aid in troubleshooting/trend analysis.
  • Manage Splunk server instance and generate trend alerts and reporting based on Splunk’s search language.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering group on optimal server/systems event thresholds/triggers and implement throughout the NMS.
  • Gather requirements from NOC personnel and Field Engineering on NMS event triggers filtering, processing, and escalation requirements and develop/configure NMS tools to fulfill.
  • Maintain event driven collaborative WiKi site to track historical event information, diagnostics process and escalation paths.

Requirements:

  • 5 years experience managing and maintaining an enterprise, retail or service provider NMS environment w/ minimum 2 years being IBM Tivoli NMS including Webtop, ISM, Impact, TEP, ITCAM and TCP.
  • 5 years systems administration experience in Linux environment.
  • Working experience in relational database, SQL and related technologies.
  • Familiarity w/ TCP/IP, LAN/WAN networking, DNS and Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Intermediate to Expert skills in most of the following: NetSNMP SNMP Agent, Shell scripting, Cacti, Splunk, HTTP and JIRA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to sort and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment required.
  • Able to be a team player and/or work independently.
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent demonstrative training/experience.

  • Experience setting up and managing kick-start (automated provisioning) environments (by hand, or via Cobbler/Spacewalk/Satellite, a plus.

Senior Billing Systems Engineer

As a Senior Billing Systems Engineer, you will provide leadership for billing development projects and provide tactical and strategic solutions to meet company objectives. You will work closely with Engineering, Finance, Operations and Sales teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn and have a willingness to jump in and get things done in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer (Java), you will be part of a team responsible for maintaining and building a number of Boingo’s core web-based systems. These systems include a variety of JSP/Servlet applications that are responsible for customer acquisition and provisioning, integration with our Billing systems, and internal support tools used by our Customer Service Representatives. This position reports to the Director of Systems Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop enhancements and bug fixes for customer-facing web applications.
  • Produce technical and user documentation: design specifications, release notes, user manuals.
  • Participate in team design and code reviews.
  • Work closely with Product Management team and customers to provide innovative solutions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with Big Data/NoSQL databases such as mongoDB.
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of web application development experience using Java and JSP. Desired web application framework is Spring MVC.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a Linux/UNIX environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of SQL development end experience with the following RDBMS: Oracle, MySQL.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with JUNIT, or comparable unit testing frameworks.
  • Experience with UML and a working knowledge of Design Patterns (GoF).
  • Experience deploying applications within an Apache and Tomcat environment.
  • Experience with JavaScript, CSS, and DHTML.
  • Experience with source control systems, such as CVS or Subversion.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to balance short-term requests with long-term product vision.
