Boingo Wireless increases by 1,300 new locations under contract in past 90 days SANTA MONICA, Calif. - August 26, 2003 - Boingo Wireless™ announced today that its roaming system now has over 2,600 unique hotspot locations either live or in the process of integration, an increase of 1,300 locations in the past 90 days. More than 400 of these new hotspots are high quality hotel locations through an agreement with STSN, which becomes Boingo™’s 40th Hot Spot Operator partner, increasing Boingo’s hotel footprint by 70 percent. This milestone extends Boingo’s lead in Wi-Fi aggregation. “Wi-Fi is racing toward ubiquitous coverage in high-traffic areas, and the growth of our roaming system – more than doubling thus far in 2003 – reflects that momentum,” said Dave Hagan, president of Boingo Wireless. “Every time we bring on new locations, the Boingo roaming system becomes more valuable to our major carrier customers, our hotspot operator partners, and most importantly, for the rapidly growing community of users that depend upon Wi-Fi. The value of the Boingo network is growing exponentially.” Boingo’s system now includes over 1,300 hotels, 600 cafes, 30 airports and 9 convention centers in 15 countries worldwide. More than 1,400 locations are live today, with the remainder in the process of integration and expected to be live over the next 90 days. All locations become available as they go live through automatic updates sent to Boingo’s Wi-Fi “sniffer” software. The agreement with STSN further extends Boingo’s utility for business travelers, initially providing Wi-Fi service in over 400 additional business-class hotels. STSN is a leading global provider of wired and wireless high-speed data communications solutions to the hospitality industry. The company has built wired and wireless networks at more than 565 hotels in North America, Europe, and Asia, which include more than 170,000 guest rooms and 5,000 meeting and conference rooms. “STSN is an important partner because they are among the largest and fastest-growing providers of Wi-Fi connectivity for hotels, which is where business travelers want to connect when away from the office.” Hagan said. “STSN’s initiative to develop roaming partnerships adds value for our core customers, the corporate business traveler,” said Dave Garrison, CEO and president of STSN. “Our agreement with Boingo provides additional ease-of-use features coupled with STSN’s unique guarantees of speed and security at key hotel locations.” The 2,500 hotspot milestone is important for Boingo’s Platform Services offering, which allows major carriers and ISPs to leverage its industry-leading client software and rapidly growing hotspot network on a completely private-labeled basis. Through one agreement, carriers can give their customers simple, secure access to all of the hotspots in the Boingo system.
