SANTA MONICA, Calif. – May 9th, 2005 –
Boingo Wireless today announced a roaming agreement with Bitbuzz Ltd., marking the first Boingo® Roaming System deployment offered in Ireland. The new agreement extends the reach of the Boingo network to more than 50 wireless locations throughout the Emerald Isle.
Boingo Roaming System subscribers from the U.S., continental Europe and the rest of the world will now enjoy secure, fast Wi-Fi access across the entire Bitbuzz network of hotels such as Fitzpatricks, Quinn Hotels, Capital and the Lee Hotel group, as well as cafes operated by the Kylemore Group, Coffee Society and high-profile bars such as Ron Blacks, the Bailey, Café en Seine, the Market Bar and the Ocean bar.
“Ireland has emerged as a growing, well-traveled business region and our partnership with Bitbuzz opens up key hospitality locations, increasing our service footprint for our business subscribers in this important location,” said Colby Goff, Boingo vice president of network strategy.
Founded in 2003, Bitbuzz is the only Irish-owned Wi-Fi service provider. The company is recognized as being at the forefront of Wi-Fi development, providing a user friendly, well-managed service in multiple types of public venues.
“Partnering with a Wi-Fi pioneer such as Boingo perfectly complements our strategic mission as we continue to develop new services and collaborate with industry leaders to facilitate the growth of Wi-Fi throughout Ireland,” said Stephen McCormack, director of alliances for Bitbuzz.
Boingo's growing European network now includes 7,000 hotspots under contract in more than 18 European countries as part of the global network of more than 17,000 Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide.
Boingo gives business travelers the best choice of Wi-Fi hotspots by combining the locations of more than 90 leading Wi-Fi operators into one worldwide network, and allowing the user to roam onto any of these locations with a single subscription using Boingo's free Wi-Fi client software.
Boingo also partners with service providers to allow their users to access these hotspots through its Boingo Platform Services program. The program provides partners with access to this network, customized client software, and a full suite of back-office billing, roaming, mediation and clearinghouse services to allow them to offer their own Wi-Fi service quickly and cost effectively. To date, the company has announced Platform Services partnerships with Earthlink, Fiberlink, Infonet Services Corp., MCI, and Telecom Italia.
