Licensing Options
Boingo is focused on making Wi-Fi connectivity for handsets as easy as turning on your cell phone. Every user should be able to benefit from the Boingo Embedded Wi-Fi Toolkit’s robust auto-authentication and profile management capabilities. To best achieve the wide adoption of the Toolkit, Boingo intends to use a dual-licensing model for its device code as illustrated below.

The code will be available under negotiable terms on a case-by-case basis. Boingo will work with the external party to customize the software in a private development environment. Modifications will not be released to the market under any scenario; the external party will pay a reasonable royalty or other fee to Boingo for this privilege. Learn more
Boingo will make the code available under OSI-approved licenses through the boingowifitool project on SourceForge.net without any fees or other licensing costs. Developers, however, will be required to republish modifications of the code back to the public source tree. In this manner, Boingo ensures that the entire community can take advantage of improvements to the code immediately, encouraging adoption and removing barriers to adoption for independent as well as corporate developers.
