Boingo adds thousands of hotspots to its global network every month. Such rapid growth means increasing convenience for users worldwide who can rely upon ubiquitous broadband access in a wide array of public locations.
The Boingo Embedded architecture now allows any service provider to offer seamless Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity to their handset subscribers. No longer must users navigate web pages with micro-browsers in order to get connected. With Boingo Embedded, the device simply auto-connects whenever a hotspot signal is available – without any special user interaction!
Anticipating the Needs of Operators
Boingo understands that providing a simple, yet scalable, infrastructure for the Wi-Fi roaming network is a key requirement for service providers. The figure below provides an overview of a typical service provider deployment using the Boingo Embedded architecture.
Deploy the Boingo Configuration Server (purchase from Boingo or build your own).
Execute Network Access Agreement with Boingo.
Offer handsets or portable devices that use the Boingo Embedded Wi-Fi Toolkit.
Integrate RADIUS authentication and accounting systems (specific to service provider).
Implement billing system enhancements to process usage data (specific to service provider).
Once these items are completed, a service provider can now offer its subscribers an instantaneous global footprint of hotspots worldwide. Boingo is working with a variety of handset manufacturers who are designing Boingo-enabled handsets that are fully compatible with the network architecture outlined above.
