October is one of my favorite months with the Exceeding Expectations kids.  As you all know, our top priority for the kids is, and always will be, education. That said, every October we participate in two athletic events that I feel are significant in laying the groundwork necessary for them to be successful in the academic world and in their adult lives.  The first of these events is the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) triathlon, aptly called “The Best Day in Triathlon.” Here’s a brief overview from their website:  “In 1994, three friends started a triathlon fundraiser to help one man regain his independence after a tragic accident left him a quadriplegic. From one came many, and Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) took root in the belief that sports and an active lifestyle are a pathway to more in life. Since that fundraiser 25 years ago, CAF has been committed to breaking the financial barrier that individuals with physical challenges face to participate in sports and live a healthy and active lifestyle.”  Participating alongside challenged athletes in a very tough race gives our kids an additional perspective on their own lives. The racers on the course with them face obstacles that they

Despite its reputation as one of the most expensive cities in the world, London does feature some great sights that are free for the taking. Check out this MSNBC list of  twenty free attractions in London. Notable places on the list that do not charge for admission include: British Museum, home to the Rosetta Stone Houses of Parliament, home to the House of Commons and the House of Lords National Gallery, which includes artwork by Van Gogh, Renoir, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Tate Modern’s permanent collection, which includes works by Pollock, Warhol, Rodin and Matisse Wallace Collection, which is “stuffed with 17th- and 18th-century art works” Most of the Hawaiian Islands were not damaged from the recent tsunami in Japan, so — as Governor Neil Abercrombie declared — Hawaii is open for business! A Canadian in San Francisco

Chris Vollick, a Canadian blogger,  is a self-described “simple guy” who enjoys food, beer and wine. Last summer, Chris discovered that Boingo Wi-Fi is just his style, allowing him to simply click on a button to connect all over Canada and in the U.S. Chris was kind enough to write the Boingo team about his experience connecting in his favorite hotspot: AT&T Park in San Francisco. Ladies and gentlemen, in his own words, Chris Vollick. I want to start by telling you what a great service Boingo offers and how easy it is to use! I was lucky to have Boingo sponsor my Wi-Fi for a series of blogging events throughout my native Canada, as well as in the United States. The service worked great! Everywhere I traveled, the Boingo apps on my laptop and phone were constantly letting me know that I was in a hotspot and could login with just one click. And from what I have seen, Boingo’s hotspot locations continue to grow every day. My most memorable use of Boingo was last summer when I was offered a trip to San Francisco, CA by Virgin America and Klout, as part of a promotion.  I went to
