That said, every October we participate in two athletic events that I feel are significant in laying the groundwork necessary for them to be successful in the academic world and in their adult lives.  The first of these events is the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) triathlon, aptly called “The Best Day in Triathlon.” Here’s a brief overview from their website:  “In 1994, three friends started a triathlon fundraiser to help one man regain his independence after a tragic accident left him a quadriplegic. Since that fundraiser 25 years ago, CAF has been committed to breaking the financial barrier that individuals with physical challenges face to participate in sports and live a healthy and active lifestyle.”  Participating alongside challenged athletes in a very tough race gives our kids an additional perspective on their own lives. The racers on the course with them face obstacles that they

Rocketfish HDMI cable for $49.99 through BestBuy (list price: $59.99):  If you’re looking to connect your HDMI device to an HDMI monitor, this cable sounds like a good choice (according to reviewers). Details: delivers a 10.2 Gbps bandwidth,  supports all HDMI features, back-twisted center conductors and 24K gold-plated connectors. There is some debate about whether there’s a difference between high-end HDMI cables like this one and low-end options priced under $10. What are your thoughts? (Via BestBuy) GPX 4GB Digital MP3 Player for $9.99 through Mobile Daily Steals (list price $60.00):  As far as we know, there’s no catch to this deeply discounted MP3 player other than that (at the time of this writing), it’s only available at this price for T minus nine hours.
