October is one of my favorite months with the Exceeding Expectations kids. As you all know, our top priority for the kids is, and always will be, education. That said, every October we participate in two athletic events that I feel are significant in laying the groundwork necessary for them to be successful in the academic world and in their adult lives. The first of these events is the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) triathlon, aptly called “The Best Day in Triathlon.” Here’s a brief overview from their website: “In 1994, three friends started a triathlon fundraiser to help one man regain his independence after a tragic accident left him a quadriplegic. From one came many, and Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) took root in the belief that sports and an active lifestyle are a pathway to more in life. Since that fundraiser 25 years ago, CAF has been committed to breaking the financial barrier that individuals with physical challenges face to participate in sports and live a healthy and active lifestyle.” Participating alongside challenged athletes in a very tough race gives our kids an additional perspective on their own lives. We won! We’re so pleased to announce that for the second year in a row — and the third time in four years — Boingo has been named “Best Wi-Fi Service” in the Global Traveler 2012 GT Tested Awards. Many, many thanks to the Global Traveler readers who give us the opportunity to keep them connected to Wi-Fi around the world. We’re proud to be doing our job for our customers. Our commitment to provide excellent customer service and valuable new product and app features continues to be our top priority. Here’s to an exciting 2013 — you rock!
Global Traveler Magazine is once again taking votes for the best of the best in travel. In 2010, we were thrilled to take home the award for Best Wi-Fi Service. We’re hoping, with your help, for a repeat in 2011. Please take a quick moment to fill out the Global Traveler Awards ballot. To vote for Boingo, look for the “WiFi Service” category under “Other Best” towards the end of the ballot. Write in “Boingo Wireless,” cast your vote for other travel categories and fill out the required information. That’s it, you’re done! While it’s not mandatory that you vote in other categories, we voted for the B&N NOOK Color as our favorite travel gadget and XpressSpa as our favorite spa — both have kept us entertained and relaxed during airport waits. As always, thank you for being a member of the Boingo community. You make us smile every day.

Dawn Callahan: 7:45 p.m. EST Fran Gallagher, publisher and CEO of Global Traveler Magazine, is kicking off the festivities by introducing the GM of the Andaz Hotel where the awards are being held… A beautiful new property that opened ten days ago on wall street. 7:46 p.m. EST Academy Award nominee Terrance Howard just stopped by our table to introduce himself to Scott Ewalt, Boingo’s manager of customer acquisition. Not kidding. 8:05 p.m. EST Certainly the award winner who came the farthest to collect their award is the Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts, winner of the Best Hotel Chain In The Middle East. They are just in from Dubai! 8:10 p.m. EST Terrance Howard presents Boingo with the award for Best Wi-Fi Service!!! (I will post a picture in a minute!). Thank you, readers of Global Traveler Magazine! What an exciting evening it was! We drank champagne, we hobnobbed with nice (and famous) people, and we enjoyed the
