“Visit Phoenix” Invites New Yorkers to Plan a Desert Escape This Winter

December in New York brings the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and ice skating rink – but also a crush of tourists, cold temperatures and rain, sleet and snow.

Just in time for one of the busiest, coldest times of the year in city, “Visit Phoenix” is reminding New Yorkers that it’s not too late to plan a getaway to a warmer, drier climate in December or into 2014.

“Visit Phoenix” is partnering with Boingo Media, Boingo’s advertising sponsorship and services group, to highlight their “This is Phoenix” campaign in select New York City subway stations, as well as Starbucks locations in New York, Dallas, San Francisco and Los Angeles during the month of December.

Prior to starting their complimentary Wi-Fi session, courtesy of “Visit Phoenix,” mobile device and laptop users in these locations will be presented with a quick 15-second video highlighting the activities and culture Phoenix offers visitors year-round, including golf courses, hiking, resorts and other outdoor adventures.  Users will be directed to start their complimentary Wi-Fi session at the www.VisitPhoenix.com site, where they can learn more about the city’s history, attractions, accommodations and cuisine, as well as receive insider tips and special offers on Phoenix getaways.

About “Visit Phoenix”

America’s sixth-largest city still has real cowboys and rugged mountains and the kind of cactus most people see only in cartoons. Phoenix is the gateway to the Grand Canyon, and its history is a testament to the spirit of puebloans, ranchers, miners and visionaries.

Projected against this rich backdrop is a panorama of urban sophistication: Resorts and spas that drop jaws and soothe souls. Stadiums and arenas worthy of the world’s biggest sports spectacles. Restaurants with inspired cuisine and inspiring patio views. Golf courses that beckon players the year round. Shopping centers as stylish and eclectic as the fashions they house.

This is Greater Phoenix — Arizona’s urban heart and America’s sunniest metropolis.
