Each year, Hollywood, Florida becomes a hotspot for wireless industry leaders, who gather for the PCIA: Wireless Infrastructure Show. This year will be no exception – the industry’s leading carriers, equipment manufacturers and technology innovators will gather Oct. 7-10 to discuss the state of the industry and future of next-generation wireless.
As a carrier member of the PCIA, Boingo will be representing at the show in full force. Boingo’s President Nick Hulse will be kicking the event off with a keynote speech entitled “The Next Generation Network Imperative,” focused on:
- The importance – and the necessity – of deploying layered HetNets featuring licensed and unlicensed spectrum.
- Boingo’s launch of the first public Next Generation Hotspot at Chicago’s O’Hare airport.
- The steps the industry will need to take to keep pace with consumer demand for connectivity, and the next generation technologies industry leaders will need to embrace to avoid getting left behind.
Boingo’s senior vice president of engineering, Dr. Derek Peterson, will continue the discussion of Wi-Fi’s role in the next generation wireless ecosystem with his contributions to “The World of Wi-Fi: Monetization, Managed Enterprise and Urban Hotspots” panel.
Dr. Peterson and his fellow panelists will discuss current and emerging Wi-Fi monetization models, the nuances of domestic vs. international Wi-Fi network deployments, and a vision for the evolution of Wi-Fi in the next three years.
Doug Lodder, Boingo’s vice president of Wi-Fi and DAS business development, will round out the Boingo presentation trifecta with his contributions to the “Evolution of DAS” panel on the last day of the show. This panel will provide an update on where the booming DAS market stands today, and will introduce a discussion of whether – and how – DAS may need to evolve to meet network and connectivity needs.
