The world’s largest carrier-grade Wi-Fi event, the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) Wi-Fi Global Congress will bring together Wi-Fi ecosystem thought leaders in San Francisco, November 5-8, 2012.
We’re sending our A-Team to represent, and Sebastian Tonkin, Boingo’s Director of Advertising Products and Strategy, will deliver his presentation, Free Public Wi-Fi: Defining the Value Proposition.
One of the masterminds behind Boingo’s proprietary Cloud Nine media platform—which enables advertisers to engage a valuable audience of always-connected consumers through high-engagement Wi-Fi sponsorships and advertising—Sebastian helped pioneer a successful business model to monetize free Wi-Fi networks using location-based advertising at the company he co-founded, Cloud Nine Media. In fact, Cloud Nine’s sponsored Wi-Fi model was so successful, it ultimately led to the company’s acquisition by Boingo in August 2012.
Don’t miss Sebastian’s presentation during tomorrow’s WBA Wi-Fi Global Congress! Here’s a sneak peek of what he will cover: hotspot trends (Did you know that three-quarters of regular Wi-Fi users get some of their public Wi-Fi for free? Yes, it’s true according to Cisco Internet Business Solutions Group research); adoption rates of location-based services; and insight and advice for wireless operators seeking to optimize revenue streams in the era of “free Wi-Fi.” And that’s just the amuse bouche. If you can’t make it to the Wi-Fi Global Congress tomorrow, be sure to return to our blog for a post-event recap.
